Neuro-Oncology
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with a brain, spinal, or nervous system tumor, the University of Colorado Neuro-Oncology Program provides specialized care and support. As the region’s major referral center, our experts design customized treatment plans combining surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, clinical trials, and more based on each patient’s needs.
Our multidisciplinary team includes top neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and other specialists who collaborate to determine the best treatment options for you. We utilize the latest therapeutic advances while considering your preferences and values.
As an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and a National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) member institution, we offer access to promising clinical trials exploring emerging treatments like immunotherapy and targeted therapies. Additional services like rehabilitation, nutrition, neuropsychology, and counseling help you through the cancer journey with comprehensive care.
We have participated in clinical trials of the following types of treatments:
Radiation in unusual doses, schedules or treatment regimens
Medications that enhance radiation effectiveness or increase tumor sensitivity
Experimental chemotherapy agents still under investigation
Established chemotherapy drugs with proven efficacy against other cancers, but experimental for brain tumors
Immunotherapies utilizing vaccine technology to prompt an anti-tumor immune response
Precision therapies designed to attack specific molecular vulnerabilities in the tumor
Angiogenesis inhibiting agents to disrupt blood supply to the tumor
Anti-mitotic electrical field therapy that leverages the mechanical aspects of cell division
Our program is dedicated to advancing neuro-oncology treatment through research and education – but our top priority is providing compassionate, state-of-the-art care tailored specifically for you.
