Optometrists work collaboratively with other healthcare providers such as primary care physicians and other specialties with emphasis on how systemic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure may be affecting the eye. If a condition is deemed to require surgery, Optometrists are able to coordinate with Ophthalmology for surgical care and post-operative co-management.
