Interventional Spine

Interventional Spine is a medical specialty within the field of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the nerves, bones, joints, discs, ligaments, muscles, and tendons of the spine. Interventional Spine Physiatrists treat pain as a result of an injury, illness, aging, or disabling conditions. Interventional Spine Physiatrists are dedicated to helping patients find relief from neck, back and sciatica pain, and improving their overall spinal health.

Spinal injuries and pain can significantly affect your quality of life and limit your ability to perform daily activities. Physiatrists are experts in understanding the complex structure of the spine and its relationship to pain and function. They utilize advanced imaging techniques and diagnostic tools to pinpoint the source of pain and develop personalized treatment plans.

Interventional Spine Care

Our comprehensive approach to Interventional Spine Medicine integrates advanced diagnostics, medications, therapies, minimally invasive procedures, and a range of non-surgical interventions to effectively address your spinal health needs.

Interventional Spine Physiatrists begin by conducting a thorough evaluation of your whole person and spine. They assess your medical history, perform a physical examination, and review any diagnostic tests, such as X-rays or MRI scans, to identify the underlying cause of your pain.  EMG/NCS testing can also be conducted to determine:

●     If the problem is related to nerves or muscles

●     The presence of nerve damage

●     The cause of nerve damage

●     The location of nerve or muscle damage

●     Whether damaged nerves are healing

Following a thorough evaluation of your condition, treatment recommendations will be specific for your diagnosis.  If your condition requires surgical attention, you may be referred for spine surgical consultation, with one of our affiliated Spine Surgeons.

Our team’s interdisciplinary work with physical therapists, occupational therapists, physician extenders, chiropractors, primary care and sports physicians, neurosurgeons, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, rheumatologists and many others optimizes patient care and outcomes
