Care Philosophy
My passion is teaching pediatric rheumatology trainees to treat children, adolescents and young adults with all rheumatic diseases, especially juvenile myositis and systemic sclerosis. I teach our fellows to practice patient and family centered care, with the idea that as physicians, our job is to educate patients and families about their symptoms, diagnoses and treatment options, and together we come to decisions about treatment plans.

I am a co-leader in developing a research registry for our juvenile myositis patients at the University of Colorado. I also have a scholarly interest in medical education, specifically competency based education and assessment at the pediatric fellowship level, and participate in national research projects about pediatric fellowship education.
