Research Interests for Patients
I am interested in Neutrophil Function in the Following Clinical Groups: Thermal Injury and Trauma Patients; Newborn Patients; Patients with Absence of Specific Granules; Patients with Glycogenosis lb; and Patients with Chronic Granulomatous Disease. I, also, focus on Chronic Transfusion Therapy and Iron Overload in Patients with Chronic Anemia. Additionally, I am interested in Antibody-Mediated Disorders of Platelets and Neutrophils, as well as the Generation of Lysophosphatidylcholines in Stored Blood Components and their relationship to the Pathophysiology of Transfusion Related Acute Lung Injury (TRALI).

I am interested in Qualitative and Quantitative Disorders of Neutrophils, Alloimmune and Autoimmune Disorders of Red Cells and Platelets, General Hematology and Transfusion Medicine.
Research Interest for Referring Providers
I am interested in the Respiratory Burst Activity and Bactericidal Activity of Neutrophils and Monocytes. Additionally, I focus on the Priming Mechanisms of Neutrophil Oxidase and the Development of Clinical Models of Excess Inflammation. I, also, concentrate on Blood Component Storage and Pathogen Reduction, as well as the Counting of Residual Leukocytes in Leukoreduced Blood Components. I collaborate with COBE BCT to develop new equipment and systems to separate platelets from whole blood. Additionally, I am interested in Alloimmunization in Response to Red Cell and Platelet Transfusions.
