Research Interests for Patients
I have been involved in a number of clinical trials that have examined the role of hormone therapy and alternative treatments in menopausal women's health. I have also been involved in epidemiologic research for over 25 years in the Study of Women's Health Across the Nation, which has followed 3,000 women of 5 different ethnicities who have traversed the menopause. SWAN is examining a variety of outcomes and risk factors for health and disease in US women. I am also studying how obesity in women interferes with fertility and reproductive hormone production. I have also had a longstanding research interest in premature ovarian failure. I am PI for a clinical trial examining treatment for endometriosis. In addition to these grants, I am the lead investigator on 3 mentored research NIH grant awards.

Research Interest for Referring Providers
I have been a site PI for the Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study (KEEPS), which has tested the effect of estrogen, when given within 3 years of menopause, on carotid artery thickness and coronary calcium scores, as well as cognition. I am a co-Investigator on the Study of Women's Health Across the Nation, a 7-center study of 3,000 women of 5 different ethnicities who have traversed the menopause. SWAN is examining a variety of outcomes and risk factors for health and disease in this representative cohort of US women. I am a PI of a project directed towards the study of how obesity in women interferes with fertility and reproductive hormone production. I am also PI of an R01 grant designed to test whether oral GnRH antagonist given to women with endometriosis undergoing IVF will improve live birth rates. I am PI of an R13 grant award that will sponsor a conference on Wellness at the 2021 North American Menopause Society meeting in Washington DC. I am so site PI of a supplemental R43 award to study whether G-CSF is an effective treatment for menopausal hot flashes. I am PI or co-PI of three training grants: the Women's Reproductive Health Research Career Development Center at the University of Colorado, which trains OB/Gyn physician scientists for research careers; the Building Interdisciplinary Careers in Women's Health Center grant (Judy Regensteiner, PhD, PI), which trains both MDs and PhDs who study sex differences or women's health research, and the CREST Program grant, which facilitates mentored research among Ob/Gyn physicians who have pursued additional training in epidemiological research through this NIH-based program. I have also had a longstanding research interest in premature ovarian failure.
