Clinical Interest for Patients
I have a wide-ranging spine practice including degenerative pathology and spinal deformity with a special interest in spinal tumors, trauma, and opportunities to employ minimally invasive techniques. More broadly I an interested in maintaining a general neurosurgery practice including cranial tumors, hydrocephalus, trauma, and chiari malformations while deferring to our subspecialists when appropriate.
Care Philosophy
"Love your neighbor as you love yourself." This command from Jesus guides my approach to medicine, and I strive to treat those who trust me with their care the same way I would want myself and my family treated. Neurosurgery training has afforded me a wide range of approaches to employ in partnership with my patients. Often surgery is the most effective way I can offer to ease pain, make a diagnosis, support quality of life, and facilitate return to activity. Just as frequently, though, my role is to explain, advocate, comfort, and help navigate our daunting healthcare system for those for whom surgery may not be the right next step. I hope to offer my patients an understanding about diagnoses and treatment plans as well as a confidence that they are not alone. I'm thankful to be a part of a truly diverse and capable team at CU, and it is a privilege to care for and partner with our neighbors in Colorado and beyond.

Interests & Activities
Personal Interests
As a Colorado and Denver native, I have never tired of exploring the mountains and love digging into the growing culture of our city. I enjoy hiking, camping, skiing, music and arts culture, and getting into all of it with my wife and our 2 boys. As a musician, I've been fortunate to maintain a creative life throughout my medical journey. Currently working with my band, Juno Rossa, and collaborating with my talented wife who is an accomplished songwriter and visual artist, the passion for creating and performing keeps me going outside the hospital.

Clinical Interests for Referring Providers
My clinical interests include a general neurosurgery practice with a focus on spine including complex and minimally invasive techniques. I have outpatient clinics in our spine center as well as a cranial clinic. Happy to see any and all spine pathology as well as brain and peripheral nerve cases. I defer to subspecialists in our dept for skull base, vascular, and functional neurosurgery. I have a particular interest in spine axis tumors, trauma, and minimally invasive techniques.
