University of Colorado Medicine (CU Medicine) and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Colorado (Anthem) have a new multiyear agreement guaranteeing Anthem members continued access to the CU Medicine clinicians that deliver medical and behavioral health services.
To address growing employer and consumer concerns for access and affordability in healthcare services, the organizations are working together on innovative care delivery models and value-based programs. These programs work to provide high quality care to patients/members, as demonstrated by CU Medicine’s recognition as the top group practice in the state of Colorado for healthcare quality scores.
“We’ve had a long-term relationship with CU Medicine, and we look forward to continuing to collaborate to keep healthcare accessible and affordable for the members we mutually serve,” said Matt Pickett, president of Anthem in Colorado. “Improving health outcomes for our members while keeping costs manageable for consumers and employers continues to be our goal.”
CU Medicine is the region’s largest and most comprehensive multispecialty physician group practice. Over 4,000 physicians and advanced practice providers deliver primary and specialty care services at CU Medicine clinics across Colorado’s Front Range and throughout metro Denver, at leading hospitals affiliated with the University of Colorado, and through virtual care services – also known as telehealth or telemedicine – across Colorado.
“At CU Medicine, we are committed to providing high quality, affordable health care for our patients,” said Gail Albertson, M.D., Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of CU Medicine. “Our continued partnership with Anthem reinforces this commitment, making access to the top providers and the latest advancements in medicine available to the communities we serve.”
The new agreement applies to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield members enrolled in the majority of Anthem’s commercial and Medicare Advantage plans.
