Learn MoreVascular and Interventional Radiology
Interventional Radiology (IR) uses advanced imaging to guide small instruments inside the body, allowing us to treat many conditions without open surgery. The benefits are clear: fewer risks, minimal scarring and quicker recovery.
These techniques utilize advanced imaging technologies such as CT scans, ultrasounds and X-rays to precisely diagnose and effectively treat a broad spectrum of medical conditions. The hallmark of IR procedures is their minimally invasive nature, often requiring only tiny incisions comparable in size to a small bandage. This approach results in significantly less discomfort, reduced risk of complications and a much quicker return to daily activities when compared to traditional open surgical methods.
At its core, the practice of Interventional Radiology is driven by the latest advancements in imaging and device technology, combined with a wealth of specialized clinical experience. Our commitment to providing compassionate, multi-disciplinary care ensures that patients receive the most effective and personalized treatment options available.

Interventional Radiology Services
IR plays a pivotal role in evaluating and treating conditions affecting the circulatory system. Techniques such as angiography, a procedure involving the injection of contrast material into blood vessels to obtain clear X-ray images, are fundamental in assessing vascular health. Interventions to address arterial or venous blockages include balloon angioplasty, the placement or removal of stents and the use of aspiration devices or medications to eliminate obstructions. IR offers solutions for treating abnormal blood vessels by embolization, effectively closing off these vessels with various agents. For conditions affecting the brain and spine, such as cerebral aneurysms, vascular malformations, acute strokes and spinal compression fractures, IR techniques provide critical diagnostic and therapeutic options.
Interventional Oncology
The IR specialty extends its expertise to cancer care through Interventional Oncology. This facet of IR focuses on the use of image-guided biopsies for accurate diagnosis, the placement of vascular access ports for delivering systemic therapies and direct treatment of tumors. Techniques like image-guided ablation, which involves the precise destruction of cancer cells by heating or freezing; and trans-arterial embolization, which targets tumors by obstructing their blood supply; exemplify the innovative approaches employed in treating cancer.
